FAQ
Frequently Asked Questions
How do members access the StartEd Mentor Network and other StartEd Members?
Build relationships, grow your business, and increase your influence as a member of the StartEd Membership. The Membership provides peer-to-peer advice from fellow EdTech innovators via an active, moderated Slack channel and weekly invite-only socials. Members also have the opportunity to participate in 3-4 small group discussions with the StartEd mentor network hosted online or in the incubator space on a weekly basis, as shown in the above section.
How do I participate if I’m not in New York?
Join the virtual community and participate in activities virtually whether you are based in New York or elsewhere. All programming is broadcast to virtual members and we maintain an active online community via Slack. Members tend to get back what they put in, so spending time consistently with the community yields better results and better relationships with peers, founders, and mentors.
How does the Membership support my participation in other StartEd programs?
We receive applications from 100s of companies each year and want to work with as many of you as possible. Companies that successfully apply get to know us first and/or are referred by our mentor network. We’ve made it easier to do so by creating the Membership.
The Membership also allows you to participate in our week-long Hyper Accelerators focused on fundraising and US market entry, and attend EDTECH WEEK, the global education innovation festival, at a members-only rate.
How do I join the Membership?
Applying for the Membership is a competitive process. Team leads apply on behalf of the full team through the application links on this page.
It takes about 15 mins.
What does it cost?
$99/month/company and its equity-free. See our pricing information.
Does the Membership include investment?
The Membership does not invest in or provide grants for companies, but does include $250,000 worth of company-building perks that are specific to edtech founders.
My company is based outside the US. Is there any assistance to cover the cost of living in New York or additional financial support provided?
Not at this time. However, we will connect you with local hosts who would accommodate you during your visit to New York and can provide guidance on cost effective, convenient options for housing for the duration of your stay. Members receive perks that include discounted co-living and co-working options in Manhattan and Brooklyn.
